    CONNIE OWEN (WiP 2016)

    Connie

Why are you running the wolf run?
I hate running the unscenic, concrete route, I love nature, woodland, water and I think I will love mud so the Wolf Run sounded like real fun for me. But more importantly, running along side women, all together as a team, for the WIP bursary, that is what really empowered me to sign up.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
I had a profound experience at WiP, one that I was not expecting and one that has been transformational for my relationship with myself as a young women. I would love to be a hand on the WIP torch, passing it’s innate message on to other women particularly those that may not, without the bursary, get to experience the power and journey of WiP.

What song inspires you to get training?
I recently thought I lost my headphones so the song of the birds is what inspired my feet to keep moving. Despite finding them, I still run with the sounds of nature but an actual song would be “I’ve got a brand new pair of roller skates” – think I may be wishing I was on my skates half way round!

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
A long, long hot bath surrounded by candles and filled with some sort of soothing potion for I am sure my sore muscles!!

    MADELEINE LUSTIGMAN (WIP 2010)

    Madeleine

Why are you running the wolf run?
I’ve admired from afar the previous packs that have run before and this year I thought, why not, let’s give it a go, raise some money for the bursary fund of which I’ve recently joined the committee. It feels like the right time to get muddy!

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
I feel that the women in power programme and weekend should be made as accessible to as many women as possible. I was lucky enough to have the money to pay for WIP in 2010 and it has enabled me to be part of the most beautiful community of women. It has made me a fuller more authentic. But I know that many women are not in a position to pay the full cost, it’s a struggle and our bursaries can result in life changing experiences for others.

What song inspires you to get training?
54-46 (that’s my number) by the Toots and the Maytals…. ‘I said yeah!’

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
A muddy hug with my pack!!

    AGNES ASHBELL (WIP 2016)

    Agnes

Why are you running the wolf run?
Because it’s excellent, excellent fun. And for the water slide. Maybe I’ll make sure my boobs don’t pop out of my top on the way down this time too.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because it’s the most powerful, transformative piece of inner work I know, and I think it should be available to all women who want it, not just those who can afford it.

What song inspires you to get training?
To be fair, I am not training. (Sorry!) I’m just going to run it anyway. But if I was, how about, Agadoo doo doo, so I can imagine myself being cheered on along the way by all the crowds.

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
A small green salad with low calorie dressing, no bread, and a glass of water. (Absolutely no fish and chips or burgers or steaks)

    JAYNE BLACKMAN (WiP 2015)

    Jayne

Why are you running the wolf run?
Because I think Women in Power is awesome. The 3 day initiation, which was one of the most transformative experiences I have had, and the community that is building that allows women to be who they are, give what they can give, take what they need, and honours the fact that this is different at different times. My experience to date is that the whole thing has a deep integrity about it, and of course it includes the shadow, which for me is fundamental to trusting.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because I want any woman who wants to do WIP to be able to do it and, there is so much in society that is exclusive to those with money and excludes those with less money, or struggling with money, which feels so wrong.

What song inspires you to get training?
We are gathering, we are gathering, we are gathering in our power!!

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
Errmmmm, a sense of satisfaction, camerardie and fun with my pack. Probably an ice cold lager and a slap up meal!

    KATE JOHN (WIP 2008)

    Kate

Why are you up for running the wolf run?
This was an amazing, exciting, challenging, and rewarding thing to do last time. It was something I’d never done before, and loved it so much I had to do it again! The best thing is that we run together, help each other, laugh, get exceedingly muddy, have a cold dribbly shower in an attempt to get clean and feel fabulous at the end.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because I believe that the amazing deep and powerful work of WIP should be available to any woman up for it, even if they haven’t got the funds for it. It’s a way of supporting them between lots of us, so they don’t get to feel like a charity case. I’ve benefitted from bursaries in other things and been so grateful that I was able to follow my heart’s desire at the time.

What song inspires you to get training?
No! Can’t be doing with all those wires, but running with Eleanor, and with Ellie, my daughter, when she’s here, is the best motivation, especially when it’s raining! Thank you both! x

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
I remember that the food tasted SO good after the run, and that was the most satisfying thing. There will definitely be a pint of cider in there somewhere too!

    GEMMA TRACEY (WIP 2014)

    Gemma

Why are you running the wolf run?
For selfish reasons! Last time I ran the Wolf Run it made me feel incredibly strong. I’d like that buzz again please.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
WIP is a life-changing and affirming experience. I don’t want money to be a barrier to other women participating.

What song inspires you to get training?
Maybe we should create a Wolf Run spotify list as music really helps me to get out and run. Currently I start with “the obvious child” by Paul Simon – need those drums to get my butt out the door.

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
The holy trinity: burger, chips, a cold beer.

    ELEANOR BROWN (WIP 2011)

    Eleanor

Why are you running the wolf run?
Purely so I can have another go on the big red slide.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because women need bursaries and I don’t believe anyone should be excluded on financial grounds. Because the money has to be generated from somewhere and constantly needs the energy of our community into it and I’m proud to be part of that.

What song inspires you to get training?
Damian Marley ‘We’re Gonna Make It’.

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
The buzz. Oh and What Gemma Said.

    ELLIE JOHN (WIP 20?!)

    Ellie

Why are you running the wolf run?
It’s a chance to push myself, a fun group activity and a good excuse to get muddy.

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because I’ve seen what a positive impact it can have on people’s lives, it’s a good cause.

What song inspires you to get training?
Toploader – Dancing in the Moonlight!

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
    Chips and a Pint.

    SU HALL (WiP 2014)

    Su

Why are you running the wolf run?
Because I’m a glutton for punishment and the photos from the pack last year looked like they had a ball! plus I’ve heard amazing things about a big red slide…

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
Because i believe in the journey that WIP offers and hope to support women to take that journey without money being the barrier.

What song inspires you to get training?
I’ve been training with only the thoughts in my head (usually saying something like: “oh my good goddess, why am I doing this, I hate running”)

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
Probably a big bowl of salad with lots of salty chips. AND an obligatory pint to wash down a sense of satisfaction.

    ROBERTA THOMPSON (WIP 2013)

    Roberta

Why are you running the wolf run?
Because I’m fearless or naive or a healthy mix of both! And this will be another huge challenge to look back on and have conquered!

Why are you fundraising for the WiP bursary?
I’m doing this run as one way I can use my whole body to help raise money for those with less resources so that they can do the incredible WIP journey and reconnect.

What song inspires you to get training?
I listen to the Body Attack playlist on Spotify … when I’ve finished my workout I love to listen to Justine Timberlake ‘can’t stop the feeling’… and ‘this is what you came for’ ft Rihanna… both tunes represent!

What are you looking forward to devouring on completion of the 10k?
Right now I’m thinking a cosy lasagna or something like that… but if a roast chicken meal was an option I’d probably order 2 of them!

Good luck women!! If you want to come along and support the pack the info is here: http://thewolfrun.com/springwolf/ or contact Eleanor at bursary@womeninpoweruk.co.uk for more details.
