Registration opens about six months before an initiation at a specific time on a specific date. There are often – but not necessarily always – two Women in Power programmes each year, in May and September.

If you are allocated a place you will be contacted to complete further information and provide a deposit.

If you are not allocated a place your name will be kept on a waiting list based on the lottery draw and contacted should a place become available

Once registration is full, we start a waiting list. Please do not lose heart if you find yourself on the waiting list. It is worthwhile keeping a place on the waiting list, especially if you are able to take a place on the initiation at short notice and have your finances/child care/time off work (as applicable) already arranged.

Women from the waiting list do secure places because things happen in life that lead women who have registered to change their plans, sometimes at the last minute. You will be kept informed by email of any movement on the list and the likelihood of your being offered a place on the initiation.

We are aware of the pressure on places and we can only grow the number of initiations in proportion to the staff available to deliver the material. Women in Power is a unique and complex programme consisting of many different elements, all of which require a level of skill and depth of understanding to deliver, making it hard to reproduce the programme quickly. We are actively working to train new staff.

While you are waiting for your place on Women in Power, we would like to make you aware of other resources available to support you in developing yourself as a woman (though the focus and content differ from what is offered in Women in Power):

www.womanwithin.org.uk is a programme we wholeheartedly recommend which is also delivered internationally.

Yes, although the non-refundable £150 deposit needs to be paid in full at the time of registration.

Final payment is due four weeks before the start of the initiation. After paying the deposit, you can spread your payment over as many instalments as you want, as long as full payment is received four weeks before Women in Power.

You can pay by post-dated cheque or by standing order. You will need to agree your payment plan with the registrar.

The deposit is non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances.

• If you cancel up to one month before Women in Power starts, you will receive a full refund less the non-refundable deposit.
• If you cancel between one month and two weeks before Women in Power, you will receive a 50% refund, less the non-refundable deposit.
• If you cancel less than two weeks before Women in Power, no refund will be available.

If you know you will need financial support, you will need to complete a bursary application form after you have completed the registration form.

At Women in Power we encourage everyone to camp.

This means that you will need to bring a small tent and your sleeping gear (sleeping bag, air mattress or mattress pad). We offer those who are unable to camp basic, shared, indoor sleeping accommodation.

We recommend that a woman is at least 23 years old before she comes to Women in Power.

The majority of women who come are in the age range of 30-70.

Our initiation is organised by and for women. Women in Power is open to all those who self-identify as women. We encourage you to have been journeying with this identification for at least a year before coming. Our community is not open to people who identify solely or primarily as men.

We acknowledge that by creating a community and programme specifically for women we are adopting a binary approach to gender identity, and that this does not reflect the lived experiences of many people. We also acknowledge that our community does not yet reflect the diversity of our society and we are committed to deepening our knowledge and understanding of trans inclusion as we move forward.

We want to work with trans women to ensure their experience at Women in Power is positive and welcoming, so invite any women to whom this policy feels relevant to contact us to discuss any concerns or questions in advance of the initiation.

We acknowledge that there may be challenges to address in relation to parts of the initiation and commit to creating a healthy environment where all conversations, questions or events can be held in a way that honours the principles of this community and its respect for each individual woman and her circumstances.

We aim to be accessible to all women and will make whatever adjustments we can to enable you to attend. Please let us know when you register if you have any physical impairment, accessibility issue or any other special need which you feel we should be aware of so that we can discuss your needs with you.

We regret that our current venue is not fully accessible by wheelchair and to date we haven’t been able to find a suitable fully accessible venue that is also affordable – if this would affect your ability to come, please contact us via the registrar so we can talk through possibilities.
